Position Overview

Building Reserves, Inc. (BRI) is expanding! We’re hiring Consulting Engineers (Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural) in the East Coast, Midwest, and Texas markets, and are open to candidates outside of Chicago. Join a growing team where you’ll gain hands-on field experience, work on various building types, and take ownership of your own portfolio of inspections and reserve study reports. You will develop technical expertise and earn your Reserve Specialist (RS) designation.

Company Description

Building Reserves, Inc. (BRI) is one of the nation’s leading reserve study and capital planning firms, serving a wide range of properties: from residential communities to complex facilities across the United States, including many iconic buildings.

BRI provides consulting services, customized capital planning, and building solutions for community associations and facilities of all types. Our team combines engineering expertise with long-term financial planning to help clients understand, maintain, and plan for their buildings over time. Our engineers develop a broad understanding of buildings and infrastructure. We are truly “jack of all trades” when it comes to building systems, and experts in translating that knowledge into clear, accurate financial plans.

We’re a privately held, growing firm focused on developing our people as much as our projects. We offer hands-on experience, accelerated learning, and clear paths for career growth, including the opportunity to work toward becoming a Reserve Specialist (RS), a recognized industry credential.

Job Description

While our headquarters is in Chicago, IL, this position is open to candidates located in major cities throughout the East Coast, Midwest, and Texas, particularly those with easy access to major airports for efficient site travel.

This is a remote role combining work from home with on-site building inspections, offering flexibility while maintaining strong team collaboration and connection.

At BRI, our approach to engineering consulting differs from traditional roles. This position is ideal for engineers who want a mix of field work and analytical problem-solving, not desk-based design. You’ll take ownership of your own portfolio of inspections and reserve study reports, developing technical expertise, client-facing skills, and strong independent workflow management skills.

We are hiring a Consulting Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will receive training in reserve studies. Reserve studies are a specialized consulting discipline that combines building inspections, engineering analysis, and long-term capital planning. You'll also be supported in working toward your Reserve Specialist (RS) designation.

You’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of building types and real-world conditions while developing technical expertise, client-facing consulting skills, and ownership over your own portfolio of inspections and reserve study reports.
